Hope

 HOPE

Sitting on top of the snow-capped mountains
Staring down into the deep blue sea
Soon to be standing near a disjointed fountain
And staring up and back at me.
Her eyes were like the blue of the night
The years have taken away her youth
She has no more use for the fight
The crowds no longer root
Her mind and her soul remains bright
Her beauty only shines from within
Life has knocked us both down onto our sore knees
The mountain top is where I have been
This backward life has her begging please
I may have to write this again and win
Could it be true, if I could only tell
Could the world be sinking into a swamp of sin
My critics can burn in hell and then go ring some bell
